Washington D.C. Hotel Reservations
Dedicated to one of the American Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, the Jefferson Memorial is what some would consider a must-see on any visit to DC. There's plenty to see and do – the National Mall is nearly an all day event.
Carve out some time during your exploration to check out the Jefferson Memorial, found adjacent to the West Potomac Park Field no.3.
Construction of the Jefferson Memorial began in 1939 and was complete by 1943. In 1947 a bronze statue of Jefferson was added to the middle of the memorial – it would have been added during the initial construction, but due to a materials shortage (WWII), the bronze statue was not completed in time.
