Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Ronald Reagan National Airport
The country's Capital City of Washington D.C. is not only the home to numerous memorials, museums and the White House, but also two fine airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, located southwest of the city, was established as Washington National Airport in 1941. In 1998, the name of the airport was changed to honor former President of the United States Ronald Reagan, by the signed legislation of former President Bill Clinton.
Due to the airport's close proximity to many Capital buildings, the airport operates with additional security precautions, as required by the Washington Air Defense Identification Zone. General aviation at the airport is allowed on a part-time basis, as long as manifests are submitted to the Transportation Security Administration. Twelve commercial airlines provide service to many major United States cities and Canada.
